The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has dismantled a major inter-state drug trafficking network, seizing narcotics valued at approximately ₹10 crore. The operation began on January 28, 2026, when officials intercepted a Toyota Fortuner in Palsana, Surat, leading to the recovery of 35 kg of Mephedrone (MD).

The mastermind, Mahindra Kumar Vishnoi, was arrested alongside three others. A subsequent raid at Vishnoi’s Surat residence uncovered 1.8 kg of opium and ₹25.6 lakh in cash. Following the arrests, the NCB located a sophisticated clandestine laboratory in the Hebbal Industrial Area of Mysore. Operating under the guise of a cleaning chemical unit, the lab had been manufacturing synthetic drugs since 2024.
Investigations revealed that Vishnoi, a habitual offender, conceived the manufacturing plan while previously incarcerated. The NCB has since issued “Red Flag Indicators” to state authorities to help identify similar illicit labs.
